I have a strong passion for getting back up after being knocked down and thriving, being better than when you fell. I faced a challenge in 2016 that set my family and I back. After crying and praying, I knew that I had to get up and do something to get my family out of that pit, so I began exploring different business ventures and as the saying goes in  Deuteronomy 28:12,   "God blesses the works of your hands." I sold make up and tie-happy socks packages until a friend recognised my ability to edit and proofread. I took that seriously and started researching everything about it. Then, I put myself out there, marketing, and soon enough, I was working with 3 publishing houses and a reoccurring client from a prominent, world-recognised non-profit organisation. This International Women’s Day on the 8 th of March 2021, I was inspired again by the Book of Esther in the Bible. Esther was ripped away from her parents by violence when she was a little girl and raised by her uncle after her parents died. She adored her uncle and despite what life threw at her, she continued reading the Word of God, praising God and seeing life turning out positively for herself. She even had dreams and a crush, as shown in the movie about her life. Living with her uncle wasn’t easy either, as she had to change her name from Hadessah to Esther to fit in the place where she stayed. But she still loved and cared for others and taught kids about God. She was later, ripped away again from her uncle as the King was looking for another queen after being embarrassed  by Queen Vashti and was advised by his counsel to basically, throw her out.   A lot of interest was shown on my piece called “ Passion into Profit ” inspiring me best to introduce you to a few other people who are in business, that have turned their passion into profit. Meet Nolwandle Mthembu, an inspirational woman who came into my life and just stuck. God must’ve purposed it that way, because she has become part of my close sister circle. Happy New Year! I say this because my year only starts now so please, bare with me. Recently, I lost my mom and even though we didn't have the closest relationship being told of her passing still felt like life was ripped out of me. My world literally shook and even though it's weeks after her funeral, I still literally struggle to catch my breath. At this point, I've lost both my parents and I noticed a distinct different between the two loses. Mind you, I'm 20 years older now then I was when my father died but I noticed that losing my father felt like I lost my surety, someone who validated my existence. However, losing my mother, felt more like losing a part of me, an identity I never knew I had in her. Years after losing my father, I'm still grieving but for my own progress and sanity, I've decided that this year will be my year of healing, complete and wholesome healing.  I burned my arm a week after my mom's funeral and it was excruciatingly painful ye...

Most of us started this year on a very high note with great expectations and big plans, but those were halted due to the pandemic. However, we didn't let that get us down. Now, with the looming threat of a second wave, we are encouraged to be more aware, careful and cautious as we go into the festive season. I guess this year's festive season will be a little bit different.  Normally, during this time of year, a lot of people experience anxiety, I did too in the past but  this year, I started my own gratitude challenge to help me deal with that, by reminding myself of God's promises and blessings over my life every day for the last 65 days of 2020. It has really helped me deal with some difficult situations from a place of victory and gratitude rather then helplessness and panic. As a new mom, you’ve probably been through the most traumatic event of your life as birthing can be quite daunting, especially if everything goes against your birthing plan and everything you’re researched and prepared for. So, to help all the moms-to-be and new moms out there I spoke to 3 mom friends of mine who have recently had new-born babies, all of them were second born babies and they were gracious enough to take time away from their bundles of joy to answer the following questions: 1. What do you wish you knew about having a second baby? - Mom 1 I've been trying to think about what I didn't know prior to falling pregnant. But, I think I knew that life was going to change drastically. Especially, because I was planning to stay with my second baby. My first baby stays with his grandmother and that gave me the freedom to do everything and anything I wanted. I also knew that chances of me being sick during pregnancy were high, because with my first one, I had pre-eclampsia....

Until recently, I haven’t really paid attention to my finances. I’ve always lived with the belief that one day my big financial break would come along, and I would be set for life. Like a lottery win or that one big business deal that just changes your life for the better. But then, I got a big reality check. A reminder that financial freedom is not a destination but a journey. One that many of us think will sort itself out, but it doesn’t work like that. You have to take accountability and responsibility for your finances from the minute you start earning an income. My mom has now been on pension for almost 10 years and she worked for over 35 years in order to be able to afford to support herself now. My big break may come but even if it doesn’t, I want to be prepared and ready for my old age so that, like my mom, I don’t burden my kids with black tax and financial demands when they should be setting themselves up for their future.
